Dr. Sorge's Biography
Robert H. Sorge
A Very Warm Greeting From Your Coach
Abunda Life Center, Asbury Park, NJ from 1975 through 2018
Ordained Minister since 1975
Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine since 1964.
Mr. North America - 1959.
The key motivation that led Dr. Sorge to become a lifetime bodybuilder and health advocate was when his medical doctor nearly killed him with drugs as an adolescent. Dr. Sorge was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and brought up in North Bergen before moving to Patterson, in a borough known as Hoffman’s Grove. He attended Wayne elementary and high school where became his class president and winner of the American Legion School Award for Leadership. Since his family home did not have a shower he was compelled to try out for his school’s sports teams so he could take a shower. He ended up earning a school letter every year in high school for varsity football, basketball, baseball, and track.
After graduating from Wayne High School, he took a job as a gym instructor and began taking correspondence courses until he eventually received two doctorates in Naturopathic Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine. In 1959, he and a partner opened their first gym in North Miami Beach, Florida and progressively expanded to Miami Springs and Key West, Florida.
While in Key West, Dr. Sorge was drafted into the U.S. Army. He became world renown when he stepped out of the line for vaccinations, asserting his right of religious Informed Consent and was court marshaled to the "Black Box." He received over 5,000 letters and telegrams from all over the country and world in support of his health convictions and religious principles.
After being honorably discharged, he and his partner opened a gym in Erie, Pennsylvania and expanded to 27 health clubs along the east coast. He received his doctorate of philosophy from the United States School of Naturopathy and Applied Sciences with honors. He started a private holistic clinic in Spring Lake, New Jersey where he treated over 100,000 patients. The Ministry bought a 55 room hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey and started a 5 day holistic boot camp.
The Church Ministry operated the hotel boot camp from 1983 until 2018 when the property was transferred and Dr. Sorge moved to Arizona, where he is continuing his ministry by being available for health and spiritual counseling.
